Rachel’s Joy Maternity Home tailors the services we offer to the needs of the young women who come to us. Realizing that it is not enough to just tell a young woman not to abort her child, we are committed to helping her during her time of greatest need. We have a large 10 room house in the Flatbush section of Brooklyn. We are able to more effectively help the young unwed mothers who come to us needing assistance. The home is able to facilitate between four to eight mothers and their babies.
When a young unmarried woman becomes pregnant, our society today often views her situation as a tragedy with the only “happy ending” being abortion. We take our name from the Rachel of Genesis 30:22-23:
"Then God remembered Rachel; he listened to her and opened her womb. She became pregnant and gave birth to a son and said, 'God has taken away my disgrace.'" NIV
She saw that the ability to have a child was a blessing and not a curse or inconvenience. Although it is hard to be a young unwed mother, every new life brings the same preciousness and joy that is described in these verses.
